This is TNA, the new face of professional wrestling.
And now it’s the premier edition of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling iMPACT! on Spike TV’s Slammin’ Saturday Night at 11 PM ET!
- The iMPACT! broadcast kicked off with an enormous response from the fans in attendance. It was announced right from the get-go that the main event of the show would be “The Charismatic Enigma” Jeff Hardy vs. “The Man Beast” Rhino as well as the Controversy in Canada footage as TNA was set to showcase the new alternative of professional wrestling!
“THE PHENOMENAL” AJ STYLES vs. RODERICK STRONG
The match started off with a blind side clothesline from behind by Roderick Strong as AJ was taking off his entrance vest-hood. Though, due to the adrenaline rush in AJ, it didn’t take him down, it only motivated him as AJ irish whipped Roderick and took him down with an arm-bar drag followed by a swinging arm maneuver that took Roderick down. Much to Roderick’s luck, “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels was now seen ringside and that caught AJ’s attention immediately. Christopher Daniels was yelling that AJ was holding his belt. This gave Roderick Strong the offensive advantage as he locked AJ in a headlock. Roderick then ended the move as we saw Christopher Daniels continue his remarks. Roderick went back to work, but with AJ’s technically sound gift of athleticism, he was able to counter Roderick’s offense by jumping and delivering a kick in mid air to the back of Roderick’s head! Roderick went down like a sack of potatoes, but he got back up as he ran to clothesline AJ. AJ dodged and delivered with a backwards soccer-like kick as Roderick went down like a pile of brinks this time! Moments later, AJ was on the opposite end of the ropes as he gave a stiff right to Roderick’s face to where AJ then jumped over the ropes and did a double spring off the second rope and delivered the reverse DDT! AJ Styles was red-hot as he then measured and hit the Styles Clash to gain victory in the very first TNA iMPACT! match on Spike TV!
Winner: TNA X-Division Champion, “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles
COMMERCIAL BREAK
- A video package was shown of “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown to where we all were introduced to the leader of the Serengeti.
- Shane Douglas now interviewed Monty Brown. Monty Brown started with “Spike TV has just become Serengeti television”. Monty Brown continued as he said that The Alpha Male will not be stopped, nor denied. He exclaimed that his opponent tonight was about to feel “The Pounce!”.
- Camera’s then shifted to the photography area of the iMPACT! Zone backstage as Raven was shown taking out all TNA security and personnel with a steel garbage can. NWA Championship Committee member, Larry Zbyszko quickly got onto the scene with more security as they were able to capture Raven and take him out..
“THE ALPHA MALE” MONTY BROWN vs. LEX LOVETT
This match got underway right away as the two locked arms. Lex Lovett then later tried to get some offense in by giving Monty Brown a few punches to the head, but that was all Lex Lovett was going to get in because shortly after another over-the-head throw, the fans chanted Pounce and that’s what they got, THE POUNCE, period! You know what The Pounce equals, the 1-2-3 pinfall and that’s what Monty Brown got, the pinfall victory.
Winner: “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown

This match was a great example of how over the top the X-Division can be. In the early minutes of the match, Petey Williams and Alex Shelley had somewhat of a bond and teamed up on Chris Sabin. The three combatants showcased everything they had. This is X-Division action that you can’t see anywhere else in professional wrestling! Late in the bout, Chris Sabin nailed Shelley with his “Cradle Shock” finisher, earning the pin. Petey Williams attacked Sabin after the bout, nailing him with the “The Canadian Destroyer” finisher.

“THE CHARISMATIC ENIGMA” JEFF HARDY vs. RHINO
The match began when Rhino interrupted Jeff Hardy’s top rope poses. Rhino went to work right away with vicious punches. Jeff Hardy then faught back with elbows to the gut of Rhino. The two competitors then ran the ropes as Jeff Hardy caught Rhino in mid air taking him down. Hardy then went for a kick as it was caught by Rhino. Later, Rhino countered an irish whip and delivered a belly to belly suplex, followed by a Gore that was missed. Jeff Hardy then hit the Twist of Fate as he was then knocked off the top rope by Abyss after an attempted Swanton. The referee then called for the bell.
Winner: No-Contest.
- Post match saw the continued brawl between Abyss, Rhino, and Jeff Hardy as the fans then called Sabu. What happens when you call for him?! The lights go out and he appears before you in his typical fashion. Sabu cleaned the house with his steal chair.

We were back on the air as footage from September 15, 2005 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada was shown where America’s Most Wanted helped Jeff Jarrett gain victory over Raven to become the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Scott D’Amore was then unveiled as the master chief of the plan.
We were brought to ringside as NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Jarrett along with Chris Harris and James Storm of America’s Most Wanted made their way down to the ring with an over the top negative response from the crowd. Scott D’Amore made his way out with a smile as he showed great appreciation towards Jarrettt. But there’s one thing interesting that D’Amore said, “When I need you, you owe the coach one”. He then hugged Jarrett as Jarrett continued to talk big of himself before BG James, Konnan, and Ron “The Truth” Killings of the 3Live Kru came down and tried shutting up Jarrett. Jeff Jarrett told them to make him shutup and that’s exactly what happened. The 3Live Kru went into the ring and took control, but it was the numbers game that played as Team Canada’s Bobby Roode, A1, and Eric Young came out to gain advantage.
Shortly after, it was Brother Ray and Devon of Team 3D that made their TNA debuts here on Spike TV as they made their fashionable entrance down to the six sided ring. Brother Ray and Devon went immediately after America’s Most Wanted and Jeff Jarrett. Chris Harris and James Storm were both taken down by the 3D finisher. They then attempted one to Jarrett but he caught the rope and went outside to run to the back. It was the return of Kevin Nash that forced Jeff Jarrett to get back in the ring as Brother Ray held Jarrett down and Devon delivered from the top rope where it counts. Kevin Nash grabbed the microphone as the fans in the iMPACT! Zone were chanting one of the loudest TNA chants ever. Nash reiterated that he had some unfinished business with Jeff Jarrett and that at Bound For Glory he was going to get the NWA World Heavyweight Title. Devon then took the microphone and said that it was going to be Team 3D against TNA’s tag team kingpin, America’s Most Wanted next week on Spike TV for the first time ever! This is truly a dream match, next week on Saturday, October 8, 2005!
